Introduction

Work in the Garden Instead of a Cubicle

Whether you’re an avid gardener, volunteer gardener, master gardener, garden club member, a student in horticulture or landscape design, recently retired or just plain love gardening and want to explore getting a job in gardening, Getting Dirty covers a complete range of topics on what to expect.

For the past six years, I've enjoyed gardening for a living but consider myself a life long gardener having played around with planting flowers and vegetables since I was a kid. I used to have a regular 9-5 job. But since I walked away from corporate life, I've had many people ask me how I did it. How was I brave enough to walk away from a steady job?

Perhaps you've also gardened your whole life and in the back of your mind have always wondered if you could make an honest living out of your hobby? Maybe you're new to gardening and have recently discovered the infinite delight of playing in the dirt and want to know what careers are possible. Are you newly retired and thinking, now's my chance to do a job I've always wanted to try.

Why waste another day stuck in the office when you could be outside gardening instead? Your love of plants is all you need to get started, let me show you the way.
